There are eight days left to watch an interesting study in ambivalence about settling down and parenthood from Channel Four.
If you didn’t see I am Hannah, it’s worth a look for the interesting fertility clinic scenes. It’s definitely not the usual happy-ever-ever Hollywood fare, with the pregnant-belly silhouette at the end.
Are all clinics in the UK as honest as the one depicted here? They certainly aren’t in Ireland. I’d also love to know what real-life parents think of the scene where Hannah meets her glowing best friend who’s just had a baby and is radiant with joy and eulogizing her ‘trojan’ husband… ha.
I wish I could watch this, but it’s not available for NZ viewers. I’m going to look out for it on our streaming services.

Hi Mali the geographical restrictions are annoying. It’s an interesting story because they don’t go for the usual tired old outcomes, it’s much more realistic than your average. There’s a UK (actor Josh O’Connor) film out too on cinemas here called ‘Only You’ that deals with fertility dilemmas – I’m trying to get to see that as well, primarily to see if the woman gets knocked up, or they try a braver ending….

I might leave that one to you to watch – so you can warn us about the ending. They’re almost always so damn predictable! Friends from College did the “surprise” pregnancy thing which really annoyed me, after showing some sensitivity in the first few episodes.
